My wife and I headed to the Voli Voli beach resort in Fiji for our honeymoon escape. We decided on this location since they offered us just about everything we wanted for our getaway. My wife likes self-convenience as well as privacy and I love nature, good food and open water.
The staff there are very friendly as well as comforting. In a way that makes you feel like you’ve been there with them for months already. They remembered our names after the first night! May sound small, but I felt it really made me feel like they were interested in us and our satisfaction, not just another number out of the tourist flock.
Our free standing villa was above our expectations. Our balcony overlooked the beach and ocean. The rooms inside were open and secure. To our satisfaction, the villa had a self-contained kitchen, which we made great use of regularly. We wanted to spend time with ourselves primarily, the equipped kitchen allowed for this. The resort got battered by a storm for one day, the structure was very sturdy and secure, we felt very safe and comfortable inside.
The facilities there are very clean and from what we could see, updating. The bar and restaurant offered excellent quality food. The pool was clean, clear and had its own bar attached. One of my most relaxed memories from there is having a beer in the pool bar and listening to our barman talk about the Fijian history and current affairs. We took up the chance for our massage in the hut overlooking the beach and also headed out for a snorkeling trip along the coral reefs. Their diving house was being upgraded, so I can only summarize that the place is only going to get better, not fade away!
While I enjoy nature photography a lot, I was not supposed to be there for that. But the breathtaking views and lush life bustling around us made my desire burst into action. After settling my wife into a beach side hammock with her cocktail, my ban was lifted and I headed out to capture the beauty. The shallows held numerous fish, starfish, rays, crabs, slugs and more. The marshes jumping with mud-skippers and birds, the shoreline covered with bushes, flowers and trees. Best of all is that the beach front is a prime spot to watch the spectacular sun set. The mood and colors were dazzling.
