What started as a backpackers lodge in 2005 to accommodate off-the-beaten path adventurers in search of the best diving in Fiji, has evolved into the award-winning, four-star boutique resort Volivoli is today. Owned and operated with the heart and soul of the original founders the Darling family.

The legacy of Volivoli Beach Resort began when the Darling family moved to Fiji in 1993. Steve Darling Senior was contracted to project manage the last 35km of Fiji’s main highway, The Kings Road, from Rakiraki to Suva. He moved his family—his wife Gail and two sons Steve and Nick—with him from Murchison, New Zealand to Rakiraki, Fiji and immersed them in island life, with the boys attending a local school, and learning to dive at a small dive shop, Ra Divers.

After purchasing Ra Divers Fijis most reputable and longest established (1990) dive operation, the legacy of Volivoli Beach Resort began.

As time has gone by the Resort has gone from strength to strength, growing into what is known today as Fijis Premier Dive Resort.

With over 100 staff from the local villages and community working  at the resort our staff are our family, Many have  been with the resort from the beginning. Our staff are focused on sharing the true culture of Fijian hospitality as they welcome international guests from around the world to Volivoli Beach Resort, providing our guests with a unique and authentic experience of Fiji.

Most recently we were awarded the quality accommodation award for Fiji, making us very proud of the relaxed, luxury resort that Volivoli is today.
