On 20 and 21 February 2016, Category 5 Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston swept through Fiji and Volivoli Beach Resort received a direct hit from the cyclone with the eye wall passing directly over us.
We can confirm again that all Guests and Staff are well and were not injured during the storm.
On behalf of the entire family and owner Mr Steve Darling, Mr Nick Darling, Managing Director of Volivoli Beach Resort on Fiji’s Suncoast said, “We are fully committed to rebuilding this resort, The clean up and rebuild process has already commenced, our carpenters have already started the re-roofing today on Friday 25th February 2016. All our existing Volivoli staff have been offered employment in the clean up process and are hard at work on the resort.”
“The resort currently has electricity, clean water supply and has our kitchen operational. We will have 9 rooms operational in six (6) weeks and will be open to the public then.”
He continued, “Our in house dive operation Ra Divers will commence diving in the next 3 weeks as our dive shop and boats were spared during this storm sustaining no damage what so ever. The Fiji Siren will be departing with her first resumed trip on the 4th of April 2016″
“We are not only looking forward to rebuilding the existing buildings at Volivoli Beach Resort, we are also very happy to announce that construction of an additional ten (10) villas will commence during the rebuild process taking our inventory to 8 Standard Ocean view rooms, 9 Deluxe Ocean View rooms, 11 Premium Ocean Villas and 10 Luxury Ocean View villas.”
“Our surrounding communities have suffered much more than we have, and they need immediate assistance. We are assisting where we can in this time of need, and support all Government efforts in this time of need.”
